Dr. Mohammad Idrish Miah is a Professor in the Department of Physics of Chittagong University and an Honorary Adjunct A/Professor of Queensland Micro- and Nano-technology Centre, Griffith University, Australia. He graduated in Physics from the Jahangirnagar University with a B.Sc. Honours and an M.Sc. He secured prestigious foreign government Quota and EIPRS scholarships for his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway and Griffith University, Australia, respectively. He did a number of Post-Doctoral research including as a University of Toronto (Canada) Fellow, a Guest Scientist of ICTP (Italy) and a Commonwealth Fellow of York University (U.K.). Professor Miah got a number of scientific national and international Awards/Prizes including Research Promotion Award 2005 (Japan), Who’s Who in the World 2009 (USA), Bangladesh Academy of Sciences’ Gold Medal Award 2009 in Physical Sciences including Engineering and Technology, University Grants Commission (Bangladesh) Prize 2010 in Physical Sciences, Academic Excellence 2010 (GU, Australia), Razzak-Shamsun Physics Research Prize 2011 (Dhaka University), IUPAP Young Scientist Prize 2013, USA (scored second, not awarded) and Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship Award 2012 (U.K.). He is an Ex-Editorial Board Member of the journal Nanotechnology Development (Italy) and a Reviewer of many foreign journals/projects. He was the Keynote Speaker, Organizer or International Advisory Board Member of a number of Events/Conferences abroad. He is a Life Member of the Bangladesh Physical Society, a Member of the Radioisotope Association (Japan), and an Executive Committee Member of the Bangladesh Crystallographic Association. His research fields include Condensed Matter Physics, Materials Science, Photonics, Spectroscopy, Spintronics, Hydrogen Fuel and Nanotechnology. He is an author of 3 chapters (USA) and over 150 papers published in high-impact journals (total IF=~200) in USA and European countries, and about 50 conference papers.
